Once per day. Our system pulls fresh data from Epic's Fortnite Ecosystem API every night and re-computes the rankings before publishing the updated site. Visit any day to see how the rankings have shifted.
Every number on IslandRank comes from the official Fortnite Ecosystem API published by Epic Games. We do not scrape the Fortnite client, we do not collect data from players, and we do not accept submissions. The rankings are a transformation of public data - nothing else.
Two main reasons. First, Epic only exposes metrics for islands with enough public activity - if a map has very few daily players, the API returns no data and we cannot rank it. Second, we apply a minimum threshold of 100 unique daily players to make the rankings statistically meaningful. As a map grows, it will appear automatically.
D1, or Day-1 retention, is the percentage of players who come back to play the map the day after their first visit. It is the strongest single signal of "this was fun" - and a central component of our Trend Score. Anything above 25% is excellent; the very best maps reach 40%+.
Top Trend ranks all rankable maps, blending popularity and quality. Hidden Gems is restricted to maps with 100 to 1,500 unique daily players, ranked on quality alone - these are smaller maps with exceptional signals that have not yet hit the mainstream.
The Trend Score combines several quality and adoption signals - engagement, return rate, audience size, and explicit positive signals from players - into a single 0-100 score, with statistical adjustments to keep the ranking fair across maps of different sizes. Yes. As our system accumulates historical snapshots day by day, weekly rankings activate after seven days of accumulated data, monthly rankings after thirty. Until then, the Today tab is the only one available - the Week and Month tabs are visible but disabled.
